Hello all.

This website and community was a gold mine for me when I set up my first custom build back toward the end of last year. That PC is still kickin @$$... if any of you remember me thanks for you help and patience :na:

Since then I haven't been following too closely what the most popular/powerful builds are, as I've been enjoying my new( I say new, 8 months old now) build.

My brother recently decided to do his first build. I'm gonna get him on these forums but I wanted to reach out first and see if anyone could throw out some suggestions and recommendations. As I said I haven't done any pricing/research for a while and of course I want to get him the most bang for his buck.

Budget is $1000 and that would have to include a monitor and win7. General Usage, with an emphasis on gaming, of course.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

thanks dude! i'm really glad you chose the HAF 912 for the case. I use one currently and I love it. Spent a few bucks on some extra fans and it really gives credit to the name HAF(high air flow).

The i5 2500k seems to be the one of the most popular procs right now.

I don't think he'll mess with SLI or crossfire, so it should have a decent GPU to start, obviously with this budget and needing a monitor and all he doesn't have too much to spend on the GPU. don't know much about that radeon 6850... I know the gtx 460s are alright. Power supply seems a little light, but I guess is suitable for this build

I really appreciate the feedback

yeah, didn't use the format. sorry.
