The better CPU for gaming

Hello, I was wondering which CPU would be better for gaming/faster overall.
The Intel i3-2100 core processor or the AMD Phenom II 960t X4?

Thanks but for my budget I was just trying to decide between a few computers that had those two CPU's.

I would wait then BeesKnees. Your budget is about to be able to purchase something far more powerful by sometime next Month. Whether that is Intel or AMD you'll have to wait for next month's launch of Bulldozer.

I wouldn't buy either one for gaming.
As for the Phenom 960 X4, I don't think AMD even makes those anymore, could be wrong though...

It would help if you read the build advice thread and post up a little info to give us an overall idea of what you wish to accomplish within your stated budget.

Edit: Oops.

ANYWAY .... You should build your own, or buy the parts and pay someone to build one for you. You will be a much more happy camper in the long run.

Yeah like cracker said build it yourself. Hes a good build for Crossfire setup or sli for later on etc. BF3 and CodMW3 ready

If it was down to those two...for gaming, a quad-core is more future-proof than a dual-core. However, gaming performance would be more dependant upon your GPU. I don't think either of those CPUs would be a bottleneck in any major way.

However, waiting is always best when looking for PC parts!!

If i were you i'll go for the AMD Phenom II 960t X4?. AMD's reputation to me is best for gaming i have one here also. Why don't you try it.
