Upgrading from 4870(single) to 6870cf on my old comp. Is it worth it??

So here is my rig.. built in 2008.

Q9550 @ 3400
VisionTek 4870 512mb (single)
2x 2Gig ddr2 Dominator 1066 Ram
Asus Rampage Formula Mobo
Antec Quattrro 850 PSU
Antec 1200 Case

Do you think it's worth $400+ to get two sapphire 6870 cards and crossfire? There's nothing much i can upgrade except graphic cards with this computer.

I will appreciate experts opinions on this.

I'm worried that all the other components will be the bottleneck to 6870cf.

whatcha think? buy? or pass and save up and build a whole new comp?

I think there would be a cpu bottleneck with two of those cards. Maybe you should just upgrade to one 6950.

Here's a radical idea .... ADD ANOTHER 4870!!!! Seriously. Two 6870s are a bit much for that CPU, but I can't really be saying anything ^_^. Since you already have a 4870 and a crossfire motherboard it would make more sense to get another 4870 to run in CF.

^ +1 ... I agree ....save the money for a future rebuild. Another 4870 would be a better fit.

4870's are hot and innefficient and you would have to find one used. I say sell yours and get a 6950.
