Main monitor is 1920x1200, graphics card sits at 41 degrees and everything is cool. Add a 1920x1080 and just displaying desktop bumps up fan speed, temp, noise, etc. Am I setting something wrong?

That's what I thought. My work pc is 1920 x 1200 and 1280 x 1024 res on the 2 monitors and it produces no load at all. It's 5870 1Gb. The Nvidia card, which I just tried with the same resolution as my work pc, goes from idle with nothing happening, to sounding like it's actually loaded up when it's at idle.

GPU goes from 40 degrees to 64 degrees with the 2nd monitor hooked up. With the fan ramping up to 50%. This is with just the desktop showing. I think the nvidia card sucks for different resolutions, since my 5870 sits about 42 degrees with the 2 different resolution monitors on it.
