I hope you will be helpfull to me-
How is this RIG for GAMING?
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955
Black Edition
Mobo: Biostar TA880GB+
RAM: 8GB DDR3(2*4GB)[Corsair XMS3 1600MHz]
HDD: 500GB[Seagate- SATA 3Gb/s
500GB 7200 Barracuda]
GPU: Saphire ATI Raedon HD 6850
1GB[Barts Pro]
Monitor: Dell IN2030M [20''-1600*900, with led backlit]
SMPS: Corsair TX650 Watts
Chassis: Cooler Master Elite
330[Without SMPS]
Can it max out any game? I would like to play games like Metro 2033 and Crysis, and what fps do you think i'll get in max out settings? For how
many years do you think it will be
able to max out? Comments and
suggetions within same budget(700-800$ and cant expence further this budget) are always welcome. Thanks.

nice i think you can run this games
June 14, 2011 4:27:45 PM

but i think you need a i5 or i7 and quad core processor to run games that comes later out

For gaming you might wanna get the i5 2500k based rig instead of the AMD Phenom X 4.

But if you wanna stick with the AMD motherboard then get the

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T-

Hexa Core Computing with much better performance than the AMD Phenom X 4

those graphic cards are ok but not future proof. i suggest either 6950 or a 580 yes their expensive but well worth the money i have the 6950 by his and i can play crysis 2 max settings also bad company 2 max settings. if u want to future proof get the cards i said above. also alway read what others have to say about the cards before you buy and biostar has poor support so dont get that brand. msi asus evga those are good brands but ur cpu and mem is good so go with it.

okay, i'll get a asus mobo, but one of my friend max outs metro 2033 in dx11 with tesselation off in 1440*900 by a 5770 and phenom x4 970, so why i wont maxed out with 6850 which is about 50% faster than a 5770??
And for higher resolution which is more important RAM/PROCESSOR/GPU??
June 14, 2011 5:20:23 PM

i5 2500k is much better. But if you are not an overclocker then you should consider i5 2400 as it offers more bang for buck in gaming. Also you can overclock i5 2400 to around 4Ghz on air which I think is good enough.
June 14, 2011 6:42:32 PM

if you havent bought the parts already i would suggest you to get the following:

Asus Sabertooth 990fx AM3+ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... you will be able to upgrade to bulldozer when they come out

AMD Phenom II X4 955 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Cooler master HAF 912 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

HD 6870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... (if you can extend your budget to $800 you canget a much better GPU)

Corsair TX650W PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

the total is $755, you can then crossfire your card to double the performance, put up to 32gb of RAM, get the 8 cores from amd

the reason why i say not to get that card is because its a budget card that card may out performe it in speed but the chipset beats the 6870 and 6850 by far that is why those cards are still expensive. the lower the res the higher fps so when you run at 1920 1080 ur fps will drop allot that jsut a example. also my friend has that card and i always ask my friend when they get new cards to give me their feed back about new items that come out so i can add it to my knowledge.

The X6 is more of a hindrance for a gaming system (the 2 extra cores are not only not used, but, cause a small amount of OS overhead resulting in slower performance compared to an X4 of same clockspeed), but, although the 2500k does cost more than the 955BE, it is worth it IMO....
June 14, 2011 11:34:23 PM

I think that rig its just great, for most games in reality are console ports ( at least the good ones) , An upgrade form Phenom ii X4 to X6 is not worth it since most games use 4 core at max. That processor that you have its the lasted recommended amd CPU for gaming on Best CPU for the Money here on Tom's. In real world you have actually and a great gaming system, I still have a 5770 and I have enjoy every single game. Your system should be fine for years to come since Sony and MS are planning to launch their consoles in 2014, and Nintendo according to rumors, would be using something less powerful than the 6850.

yeah i dont think so, what you said is bs my friend 2 extra cores will now slow down a OS. the os will not use it until needed x6 processors are more advance than the x4 processors. better chipset design and more compatible with software we have now adays. trust me i have done many test with allot of processors. i test allot of hardware and software, i know what i am talking about. you can get a processor from amd around 250+ the max they have for that price, i3 i5 are crap processors the only good intel is the i7 and not necessarily 6x cores. i7 is a good investment but is to expensive just for a slight bigger cache.

I would definitely recommend a i5 2500k based rig for gaming
June 15, 2011 4:10:44 PM

the phenom II x6 is slower in benchmarks but the framerates and performance it provides are very good already, it comes down to personal preference
June 16, 2011 5:12:30 PM

I think you need to buy better a i5 processor thats is faster and X4 processor is good enoug for gaming
June 16, 2011 5:13:45 PM

and you can play metro 2033 and crysis 2 on max
June 16, 2011 5:45:09 PM

but what do you hafe windows 7 ,Vista or XP

Case you choose:

total $716.70 that is for my zip code if i had yours i would know exactly what the total is so basically you have 85 bucks to spend on a case or you can add another 150 bucks to the price range i can make you a future proof rig you will never need to buy again. these hardware is future but to make it even more future proof i suggest to save a bit more like 1grand. dont let any on tell u that any of the parts i have provided is a over kill because i know for a fact and is my job games and programs in the future will require a *** load more resources. games are getting really big in size. battlefield 3 will be more than 10 gb and installed will be more than 17gb+. also games in the future will require a dual core gpu graphic card. this mobo you can add another graphic card. you can upgrade your cpu. its a future proof system trust me i get things done correctly.

Radeon HD 6950 - 2GB or 1GB?? cause i heard none of the games require more than 1gb, and HIS is unavaiable in my country. So which will be a better brand Sapphire or MSI??
June 19, 2011 2:29:14 AM

and also Thanks for ur build.
June 19, 2011 2:49:08 AM

You'll need at least a 6950 to even think about maxing games like Crysis and Metro 2033...
