I recently built a new machine and no matter what i do i cant seem to get the display to light up.
Asus Sabertooth 990FX
Phenom II X4 965
8 gigs (2 x 4gig) Corsair XMS 1333
Thermaltake purepower 700 watt PSU
XFX 6870 black edition
I have tried everything here...bredboarded the system.. same result
ive tried different monitors different video cards and different PCIe slots... the display wont light up
when I turn the machine on I get a single short beep like it is posting...just no display
The video card requires 2 6pin pciE power hookups my PSU has 1 8pin and one 6pin... I used a 8 to 6 pin adapter for teh second connection... this is teh only thing i have not been able to try... theretically...would this keep my display from lighting up on startup?
would appreciate any help that could be given here
