Have you enabled boot from CD in BIOS?

Apparently, there's no way to get into the BIOS settings on this notebook.
There's no "Press F1 or F10 for Setup" like on newer notebooks. The
Prosignia 165 manual says the CMOS can be cleared, and to call Tech Support
for instructions. Trouble is, HP/Compaq no longer offers tech support for
this notebook. I was hoping to find someone who knows how it is done. I'm
still hoping :-)

with the notebook off, press down on the escape key, turn on the
notebook (while still holding esc down) and don't let go until you
hopefully see a message on the screen. This is actually a Toshiba
procedure, but because it simulates a "keyboard failure", it works on
many computers, so it's worth a try. Otherwise, there is a way to get
into CMOS, but I'm not sure what it is for that model.

Unfortunately, this didn't work on my Compaq Prosignia. But there's GOTTA be
something that will. At least I can hope. . .
