ASROCK Extreme4 Z77

Just purchased a new system - I love this motherboard. My only question is when I start or wake up my computer, my cpu fan sounds like a jet engine for a few seconds.. then it slows down and is quiet. How can I prevent this from happening? I have a stock fan and 3570k.

It only slows down after boot and all drivers and programs are loaded. Nothing you can do about it except replace with an aftermarket cooler with slower fan.

You can go into the BIOS and set the CPU fan speed to 1 and the target tempt to 60C. That'll keep the fan spun down even at POST. I have the same mobo (but with a 212 Evo cooler) and it's inaudible over the case and GPU fan.

Thanks JED. We have the exact same system (case and everything!) except video card (and CPU fan). I have the Gigabyte Windforce GTX 680 because I got tired of waiting for the 670s to come in stock.

I will change this in the BIOS. Thanks.
