I have an old laptop with a 166MMX/32MG of RAM, can I use that RAM on a
Toshiba Libretto 50CT?
Also I know that the last versions of that Libretto came with a P120
underclocked to 75Mhz, and that the board supports frecuencies up to
200Mhz... what about the processor?, can I plug in that faster chip?

Orbably not.

This is very dubious and you better be good at SMT soldering to even
think about such a mod. If you're really determined, check some of
the Libretto web sites. But you're better off getting a more recent
Libretto which is faster to begin with. The latest ones use a Pentium M
at 1 ghz or so and look very nice.

Hard to say for sure, it could be EDO or it could be SDRAM. However,
you should be able to resolve this with a slight amount of research at
the Toshiba site.

Proabably not. They typically use unique ram modules that weren't
standardized back then.

See http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ -> overclocking section for
more details. You can clock it back up to 150Mhz or anything between,
and supposidly, some Japanese companies had once done desolidering of
the CPU and put a new one in, but realistically, you're looking at
overclocking the system by jumpering a few pins to at least 100Mhz, if
not 150Mhz (100Mhz is more stable, 150Mhz so-so depending on your system).
You'll want to max it out at 32MB ram, then drop in a faster 7200rpm
HD if you can (or anything newer than the original - it'll make it boot
and run a bit faster), run Win98SE if not Win98 + 98Lite or simply Win95
to keep everything slim and light.
Beyond that, I usually say at least a Libretto L110 is the best
choice to go with on these older models - 233Mhz + 64MB ram is just fast
enough to run Win98SE + Mozilla/IE/Office/etc fast enough to keep things
happy.

Up from there, the latest Libretto U100 Pentium M model just
released is the other way to go at $2000.
