I have a Gigabyte Motherboard that seems to have blown, (GA-965P-DQ6)
I was using a Intel core 2 duo E6600 chip, socket 775
MY question is, if I need a new motherboard, but want to continue using current RAM, (DDR2) video card etc..
can anyone suggest a motherboard that is not too much of an old model, works with my current chip, and but is future proof too, i.e can accept DDR3, and if I upgrade one day to a newer chipset, could still use the motherboard
If there's any motherboard comparison that checks for such compatibility, i'd appreciate it
It is already 3 generations old and hardly worth calling it future proofing it. It is difficult to find those motherboards today and I was unable to find one on Newegg with both ram std.
Well thank you for your honesty, and pardon my ignorance.
Originally I thought my power supply was gone, but a replacement power supply did not help, and although the motherboard looks fine, that must be the problem
I guess i'll start searching for a new motherboard and processor
