Hello, I recently just finished building my pc (for the most part) and I was wondering if my cpu temps are okay with the stock heatsink/fan.

Case: Storm Scout
Cpu: i5 2500k

Idle temps jump around from 38C-46C. When playing a game, say Team Fortress 2 for example, they go up to the high 60's (66-69). I tried out bad company 2 and after about half an hour I got a bsod. I'm not exactly sure what it was from, didn't read it, so I'm wondering what is the safe point with this cpu? I know I shouldn't be expecting much out of a stock heatsink, especially this tiny one (my corsair vengeance is taller!), but I feel it should be a tad cooler. When in games, I don't hear the fan get louder and I can't figure out if I can change the rpm in speedfan or not. I can't adjust fanspeed in bios either. Is it possible I just did a really bad job at applying thermal paste?

Also, if anyone happens to know, would a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118075 fit fine in my case?

I would recommended

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065

or

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608018&Tpk=nhd14

Depending on your budget.

Both of these will fit in your case fine.

You should try reapplying the thermal paste, though you shouldnt of needed to apply any as the stock heatsink should of come with thermal paste already applied

Edit: The TJMax is 98C. It will probably start to throttle at 90C, and completely shut itself off at 98C

The Tcase is 72C. This is Intel recommended max operating temperature for long term use.
