If the processor was released after the motherboard, then the BIOS may not know the identity of the new processors. So while the motherboard can support the processor, you need to "introduce" the new processor to the motherboard via a BIOS update.

The new BIOS can be downloaded from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

More to the point, why do you want to spend $220 on a motherboard and then buy an FX CPU to put in it?

It is quite likely that it won't work without the BIOS update. You would have to have another processor around like a Phenom 2 or Athlon 2 that would fit the slot in order to update the BIOS and then take it back out and put in the FX.

It is possible the motherboard already has the new BIOS on it and you don't have to do anything, but I have seen a whole lot of people get burned like this.

I would just skip both the crosshair 5 and the FX CPU and get something from Intel instead which will work better and without complaints.
