Hello community!

I know it's asked question.I have both retail windowses : XP PRO and Windows 7 Ultimate.

Which one should i go for?
I have laptop, which I'm doing all other work than gaming, that means I don't need to use quite anything what W7 offers[only 2GB of ram at this point].However,W7 gives you directX 10.1,which my video card supports and which will give me better graphics.

Specs :
AMD Athlon II X2 250 [3,0 Ghz]
Club 3D GT 220 [512mb GDDR3]
2GB Crucial RAM[DDR3-1333]
PSU 450w

Which one You would suggest : Windows 7 or old Windows XP?
Main trouble would be 2GB of ram, which is because I'm asking this.

Thanks A lot!

Henri

id say go W7, is not as slow and clunky as vista was. and nowhere near as much of a resource hog.

given 2gb or more of ram or DX10/11 are unavailable in XP, i think W7 is the better choice.

If you want better graphics then go with a higher video card, not a new OS.

You could stick with either of the two. If you're not after the benefits/features of Win7 then you could still do good in XP.

i read some reviews and W7 is getting better fps than XP is in those reviews.
Moreover,XP can't handle games that are meant for DX10.

Then again, if you want better graphics performance then you should get a better video card, not a new OS. You would get far better fps that way than upgrading OS.

Opt for the Win7. :)

No, any recent video card, like yours, will give better performance in win7...

The previous answers come from people with eight 6970 in xfire or gtx380's...

Your budget build could do with little more graphics power, like a cheap 4850 if available or any 4770, even a 4670 would be better... that's all they're saying.

Go win7.

BTW, if you're running the 32-bit version of Windows, then you won't be able to utilize all 4gb of memory due to the limitations of running in 32-bit mode.

If you really want to access all 4gb or more of memory, then you want to upgrade to the 64-bit version of Windows. In that case, if that's what you want to do, then go with Windows 7 because I'm not sure how many drivers are available for the 64-bit version of XP. I never used it before because I had some older hardware at the time. Now, I'm more up-to-date and I have 64-bit drivers for all my hardware, including my motherboard which worked right out of the box with the installed Windows 7 drivers.

For windows XP 64bit there's quite nothing that runs on.starting off from live messenger.
