Extending Desktop Displays

Hello all, n00b here, so I'm not sure if I have the correct forum or not...

I have a Dell XPS 8300 with an ATI Raedon 5700 graphics card in it.

I have 2 displays - an Apple Cinema Display (1920x1200 res) that is connected to my DVI input on my desktop.

I also have a HP w2338h hd monitor that I'm trying to extend to via my hdmi cable.

My question to you is, is it possible to extend a desktop display with a DVI connected monitor and an HDMI connected one?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I attempted it with no luck. Are there some sort of settings, or something I'm just missing?

Yes. At one point I had a DP, HDMI, and DVI all connected to my 5870 at the same time.

there're whole bunch of settings, in windows' display settings and AMDs Catalyst Control Center

thats weird, i have the CCC on my laptop, but not my desktop. i wonder why that is...

i've tried connecting the hdmi and vga adapters to my desktop to extend the display on to my hp monitor, and it keeps giving me an error of "unable to save display settings"

what now?
