Graphics card purchasing

is my EVGA GeForce 9800 GT Akimbo 512MB GDDR3 512-P3-N982 version better than the standard 9800 gt cards could someone please help me before i buy it really need to know please reply ASAP

if you look on the spec list normal 9800GT will be faster since the clock are much higher than the EVGA one

The 9800GT is a few generation old card. Do you not have the option for a newer card? for example a 4xx or 5xx Nvidia card, or 5xxx or 6xxx series ATI card? I wouldn't invest in old tech unless you get it dirt cheap.

the card was clocked lower than the normal 9800GT. of course you can overclock the card but don't expect too much from it. in fact you will be very lucky if the card able to reach normal 9800GT clocks which i highly doubt it will. if you really want an overclocker beast then get much newer card such as GTX460

what is your budget, system specs, monitor res, and country of origin? imo it makes no sense to buy a 9800 gt 512mb with all the options available even overclocked it will likely leave you underwhelmed imo

athlon ii x2 250 3.3 ghz ,xtec 700 watt psu ,4 gig 800 mhz,emachine 18.5'' monitor, wd 1 tb hard drive,9800 gt akimbo version and i'm from jamaica in the caribbean

my budget is 1300 thousand $ jamaican dollars but when converted to us dollars it is 150 us $

That might get you a cheep GTX 460 or a GTX 550 Ti. I would try for one of these these if it is possible. They have good power over the 9800 GT and are built for much newer technology. I would fear the 9800 GT getting obsolete rather quick. Might as well get a card that will last you for a while. These should be much better if you want to game with higher graphics settings.

Also, 450 GTS would be a card that would still be better than the 9800GT without you blowing all your budget.
