650w power enough for 5850 and i7 2600k

Hello, i just bought a new motherboard and processor coupled with 8gb of memory. seeing as i still have my old 5850 gf card i figured i could still run the current games etc with it for atleast 6 months more before i "need" to upgrade.

the dilemma is that me and my mates chucked it all together and it seems my rig cant seem to find my gfx card.. it signals that it gets power but all we could conclude is that it may not get enough of it.

processor is i7 2600k
motherboard is p8 z68-v pro
memory 8gb of 1600
powersupply is be quiet 650w
gfx card ati 5850 1gb

we did try the gfx card on my mates rig and it ran fine, so it aint fried. I did order the new antecs high current gamer 750w powersupply and i reckon it might solve it? But i wouldnt mind some insight on the matter.

Seems your current PSU is overrated (in terms of its actual output) and is simply not up to the task. Not all that uncommon by the way. Good luck with the new PSU.

...the lesson is that not all PSUs are created equally. With PSUs, you usually get what you pay for.
