BTW what kind of wattage would i be looking for in a power supply?

Whats the usage? It will be pretty weak for gaming, mediocre workstation, and over-specced general purpose machine.

From what you have now, a quality 400W would do the job.

I see.
I have absolutely no experience in computers and looking at your choice of products I see I should have definitely given this more thought. I understand your choice of CPU, graphics card and motherboard and thank you for your input.
also, why sandy bridge?

Sandy bridges are stronger CPUs, which benefits games that stresses the CPU more like RTSes and other general purpose needs.

For a pure gaming build, you can substitute the CPU with a 955 + 990X and move up to a GTX560ti or 6950.
