What use is wifi in a mother board

as a novice I would like to know what use is a wifi or how to use wifi on a motherboard.
I'm thinking of buying a Gigabyte GA-Z77 UD5H motherboard

Costs extra. I prefer to go sans wifi/bluetooth and get the after market adapters that way I can bounce them from machine to machine If I want.

Wifi lets you connect to the Internet through a wireless router. ie you do not need to be plugged into the wall with a cable. It will also allow you to connect to other wireless enableddevices such as a printer or other computers. Good to have....

it saves a pci slot for people to put in a sound card on the smaller z77 mb. if you look at most mb with two video card pci slots there not may free slot left when you use two 2 slot video cards. having wifi on the mb saves a pci slot and a usb slot.
