Dvi to hdmi pc to hdtv trouble

I recently switched my old hdtv (samsung a650) to a sony hx909. On my old hdtv my pc was able to boot and run with dvi to hdmi cables, but my new tv, I can see the boot up efren but then turns black. Not even showing me the windows 7 load screen. I'm currently using a nvidia 8800 gts 640mb card. Is there anyway to get my pc to work?
