Hi everyone, i have spent the last couple of hours scouting this forum for a similar problem to mine but am unable to find a definite answer.
I am using a
Gigabyte GAN-P55M-UD2 rev 1.1 updated to f11
INTEL I7 860
2x 4 gig Patriot sector 5 1600 memory

The problem is that when i enter the system status in windows or the biosit shows i only have 4 gig and not 8.
I have the memory in the correct slots 1+3 and have even swapped them around but still the same.
Is it that this memory isnt compatible? I know that it doesn't feature in the list of approved memory types, but thought that this was good quality memory so surely it should work.

Please help

James

You probably have one stick of faulty memory. Time to get memtest86+ and test your memory, one stick at a time. I know it's a pain, but it's the only way to make sure of what's going on.

Thanks for the reply. I will try what you suggest , however, when I check the bios it states that both slots are used and are only holding 2 gig, when in fact they are both 4.
