Welcome to Tom's Forum! :)

Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2 - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3610#sp
2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 1333(OC)/1066/800 MHz memory modules

While DDR3-1333 can work on your MOBO it requires you to OC. Typically it's best on LGA 775 CPU's to run the memory 1:1 FSB:Memory Frequency.

Note the FSB of the CPU's in this list - http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3610

If your CPU has a FSB of 1066 then in the BIOS it's best to leave Auto settings, and first populate the 4GB stick in the DIMM slot closet to the CPU (DDR3_1).

If you have a 2 different sticks of RAM then sure that can pose a problem, both sticks should be the same Frequency, CAS Timings, Capacity (GB), and Voltage. Try one (1) stick at a time.

If your PC fails to post then try to Clear CMOS, unplug the PC for 5 minutes and in your manual refer to page 17 - http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-g41mt-s2_e.pdf and for more information watch the video -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdHH9KrceR0

If that fails then return the RAM for a different brand; example - http://www.flipkart.com/g-skill-nt-ddr3-4-gb-1-x-gb-pc-ram-f3-10600cl9s-4gbnt/p/itmd2ryssznzcn4f?pid=RAMD2RYRWUGWXPWJ&ref=7355627a-e3ca-4e66-be08-8c7f15c3e3e4
