I am currently updating my card's drivers to the beta, I see all of these improvements, but I am left wondering if there is any real effects on my old gpu, anyone have any ideas?

The latest 270.51 betas really improve the performance of Dragon Age 2. If you have that game, you could test before and after the new driver installation. Unfortunately, in general, it seems like later driver versions benefit the more recent video cards more. But for a situation where there is an actual game bug or incompatibility, like with Dragon Age 2, you should see some benefit from the bug fixes even on an older card.

You can always try benchmarking. For example, try running a benchmark app like Unigine Heaven or 3DMark before and after driver updates. Although to be honest, I doubt you'll see any noticeable difference in performance. 5% would be optimistic.
