Updating motherboard BIOS

I heard its a good and bad thing to do when updating the BIOS. The question is when is the best time to upgrade a BIOS or if you even should.

If you can't afford a new board, or waiting two weeks for a replacement rma board, then I wouldn't do it unless your new cpu won't post. You should always check the file number at the top of the post screen and compare it to the files listed under "cpu support" on the motherboard's webpage. If the file number is the same or higher, then you don't need to flash.
