Hi!

This is my first post here! Thanks in advance!

I have one MSI 890FXA-GD70 (with AM3+ logo at the MOBO box) which was running fine with a Athlon X4.

The BIOS version was 1.9 but, I just bought a FX6100 and within the CPU box, there is a red alert, telling me to update the BIOS before use this CPU.

So, I download BIOS version 1.14 from http://www.msi.com/product/mb/890FXA-GD70.html#/?div=BIOS (file 7640v1E.zip), unpack it to a USB (FAT formated) and go to MZ-Flash at BIOS screen...

The update runs... I saw a message like this:

writing BIOS.... 100%
rebooting in 5...4...2..1....

BAM! Motherboard dies, even before installing my new FX6100 CPU...

At the MOBO display, a FF messsage keeps blinking...

What can I do?!?!

Do I need to buy this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BIOS-CHIP-MSI-890FXA-GD70-/380384028788?pt=Motherboards&hash=item5890a7a874#ht_1507wt_1141 ??

Also, I have a second MSI890FXA-GD70 for backup, working fine now, its BIOS version is 1.9 but, when I try to install the new CPU FX6100 without any BIOS upgrade, I saw FF blink again... It works ONLY with Phenom X6 or lower...

What's going on?!

Thanks!
Thiago

Also, I didn't do a BIOS backup but, if I made, how to restore it?! If the MOBO don't even boot anymore...

As I have a second equal MOBO, I was thinking to make a backup of its BIOS, and restore it on the faulty hardware but, how?!

Thanks!

Hi!

Yes, my MOBO was fixed, by removing the BIOS chip, rewriting it and soldering it back.

Sorry to not return to you guys before...

The user `xtreme5' does NOT knows what he is talking about.

Best,
Thiago

You can also download latest BIOS to root of a USB key. Insert KEY. Restart. Go into BIOS. Go into M-FLASH. Choose first option "Boot". (not flash). Remove key. F10 to save and exit. BIOS will attempt to load from USB key. It cant. Now inset USB key. BIOS will find BIOS on USB key. After return to BIOS, remove USB key. Go back to M-flash. Make sure it's set to disabled. F10 to save and exit.
