Hd 5850 problems overclocking?

Hey,
I have an Eah5850 by Asus, and whenever change I clock speeds it artifacts in all 2d applications but not in any 3d applications... Help? loading screens are artifact ridden, Furmark runs fine... I have no idea... Should I try sweeping drivers and re-installing? I'm on a 3 monitor setup if that helps any

What clock is it running at in 2D with no overclock... What about when you apply an overclock? Does it keep the same 2d clock speeds. It sounds like something in your OC method is lowering your 2D clocks. Usually when you run multiple monitors there is a a higher 2D clock it runs at to support the higher resolution. Make sure it isn't overwriting this.

What should I use to check the clocks at stock? Just Ati catalyst?

ATI catalyst should tell you. GPU-Z is also a good tool. http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

Well, you were spot on about ocing with 3 monitors... No artifacting now with only one, but how do I raise the 2d clock speed so I can make it usable with 3 screens? When I OC my gpu the 2d clock is 157/300 but when it's at stock the clock is 300/500 or something like that... any way I can raise that to stop artifacting?

What are you using to overclock with? For ATI I always use the catalyst control center that comes with the ATi drivers, its the safe bet.

I use either that or Smart doctor... either way, whenever I even alter the clocks at all the 2d clock reverts to the 157/300 rather than a usable clock for 3 monitors.
