Mouse clicking issue

My mouse only registers clicks 80 percent of the time. I've tested it on another computer and the mouse is fine.

I noticed 14 HID entries in device manager despite only having a keyboard, mouse and headset. That seemed strange to me so I uninstalled all of them except the ones named keyboard and mouse. I restarted the computer but they all came back.

I'm a noob but my two biggest suspects are...

Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse Detection Driver (What is it?!?! Do we need it?!?)

Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 Motherboard

Does anyone know how to fix this very annoying issue?

Specs are...

CPU - i5 2500k
Mobo - Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3
RAM - Kingston 8GB 1600MHz
GPU - EVGA 560ti SC
PSU - 560W Silverstone
OS - Windows 7 SP1 (up to date)
Mouse - Microsoft X8 (works in my old computer and friends computer)

  1. I just closed Steam and now it seems fine. Does this seem strange to anyone else?
