What is the difference between LGA775 socket and PLGA775 socket?

What is the difference between LGA775 socket and PLGA775 socket?

I want to upgrade my PC and purchase e6600 or e6700 core 2 due processor but those processor supports PLGA775 socket and My motherboard (DG965RY) supports LGA775 socket?

I have:

Motherboard: DG965RY
processor: 1.8 dual core

Can PLGA775 supported processor match with LGA775 socket?

  1. They are the same socket, so it will work. Do you want to upgrade to an e6600 or e6700 because if you are willing to get a new motherboard, newer CPUs have come a long way. Those are still on the 65nm technology. The Core i series use 32nm now.
