Hey there, got your PM. I have a few quick notes.
-What version of Aftereffects? Is it CS5?
-What graphics card do you own and intend to use?
-An i5-2400 with Z68 (for the encoding times) is where you need to start.
-Why not a silent case for a render rig? We can do a window, but I would think you'd want professional looking.....

I'll get back to you!

OP, you need to listen to Striker, he's right about the i5 2500k vs the 1055t. more cores does not mean better necessarily.

ok, here it is, i was wondering whether a gtx 570 will last me 3-5 years of playing rts games at ultra settings (like sc2) if so then ill keep that motherboard to keep cost down.

Everything except the motherboard looks good. You said you wanted to eventually do SLI/xFire so you need a motherboard that can do x8/x8 when 2 pci-e slots are filled.

and why does that motherboard have firewire :O

a gpu lasting 5 years? that's a good one :p

The gpu is the one component i can GUARANTEE you it wont last more than 2 years and still play things on max settings.

Not really. And while RTS's arent the most intensive games around, they still require quite a bit of power. The truth is, you won't be maxing anything in 2 years unless you SLI, let alone 3-5.

i was thinking that but is the cooling as good?

Well there's a few advantages. One, more CUDA cores. 2, native support for the Mercury Playback Engine used in CS5. 3, it's just faster!

However if you are comfortable with modifying CS5 a little bit I would advise getting a well cooled 560 Ti and OCing it to 570 levels.
