I put together a AMD Phenom II X6 with the BIOSTAR A770E3 and it freezes up on boot up when it tries to boot from any device. I'm not sure the motherboard is seeing the processor speed correctly. There are no multiple beeps at start up. I get the single beep and it boots up like it all fine and dandy then freezes.. At boot time it shows Speed at 800mhz and count at 6. I assume it means 6 cores. Also, the motherboard shows the model of the cpu as unknown. Is there a setting in the bios that cause it to recognize the processor correctly or is it doing some calculation based on 800mhz and 6 to get the frequency of the processor?

any help is greatly appreciated..

Thanks

A BIOS update fixed the problem I was having. I had to borrow a dual core AMD processor from another PC so my motherboard could detect it. Then I updated the bios and put the Phenom II x6 back in and it worked like a charm. This thing is really fast too at stock settings.
