I had recently some problems with my laptop Compaq 2701, (Windows xp
home) that started something that to the eyes of an unexperienced user
as I am lookeed like that the computer went into overheating as the fan
was going very fast and then, after a few seconds, going off into
protection as if the overheating was excessive.
starting the computer in safe mode and unsing the battery (the CPU runs
slower for saving power) solved partially the problem: the fan was
going fast compared to the usual, but I was able to back up all my
data.
At that point I tried to reinstall the system, but the computer does
not stay alive for the time needed for the complete install.
The Compaq service center told me that the motherboard is gone and that
is not even worth fixing it. However I have still some data in it and
to restart it, even in safe mode. would be very helpful.
Do you have any suggestion?
I apologize for my English and for my ignorance of computer things.
