Hello,
I am a new nOOb on here and I am looking for some information. I have a sager np8150 gaming laptop with an i7 2630qm and a ati 6970hd OC. I want to know if newer games like BF3 and ones to come out in the next year are going to be bottlenecked by the CPU (2630)?? I dont want to miss out on any sweet games becuase of this. I am looking into upgrading to a i72760qm, for 368 dollars. Is it worth it? Help

It should do very well. PassMark's reviewed it and that thing is neck and neck with my core i7 950 @ stock settings. You will be fine.

The core i7 950 is a pretty good cpu. Easily more than enough for gaming. You can do pretty much anything with it. You should have no problems gaming with that laptop what so ever. The cpu is the same as mine speed wise, the graphics card is good also. You should be able to run bf3 easy with that setup.

Awesome bro thanks for the help. One more thing I want to ask you bro. How much does Ram affect gaming? Does it at all or no. i only have 4 g. want to know if i should up that? I mean I know its better to have more, but I dont really care unless it makes a diffrence in gaming ya know.

4 gigs should be fine, most people recommend 6 gigs if you're using windows 7 64 bit though. I'm using 6 gigs of tri-channel g.skill 1333mhz ram but i've also never seen it go above or even close to 4 gigs of use in any game. Including metro 2033, crysis, etc. The most use i've seen was around 2.4-2.6gigs out of 6. Speed wise you can sometimes notice a difference depending on what ram speed you buy. You can get anywhere from 1333mhz to 2000mhz. If you plan on overclocking your cpu it is wise to go with 1600mhz or higher, Just makes it more stable and easier to overclock.
