DS - Equvalent graphics to N64 or better (CG)

Just trying to place where the DS sits.

If PSP is going to be like a PS2 but portable is the DS like the GC?

I am thinking of getting one on import (in UK here) and currently have an
N-Gage QD having sold my GBA-SP as thought prices of them would drop when
DS is launched in UK.

I actually find the N-Gage not a bad unit and just trying to clarify what
the differences would be?

Also does DS have ability to write in the calendar using virtual keyboard
or hand writing recognition? (Assuming I am correct in thinking it has basic
organiser functions)

Due to the low resolution, graphics look similar to the Gamecube (especially
Metroid Prime Hunters!), but in the end I suppose the graphics will be like
the Dreamcast if you're familiar with this console. But don't rate a
handheld just by the graphics. The gameplay of the DS is great! And I don't
think the PSP will be able to recreate this gameplay by its superior
graphics.
As far as I know, the DS hasn't got any organising functions. I can be
wrong, though, but in the week that I've got it, I haven't been actively
looking for it.
I'll look in to it later for you, though.
Bu the way, if you like the N-gage, you'll definetely like the DS - the
great graphics, the better controls and the wi-fi capabilities will make the
N-gage look like nothing.

The DS and the N64 is probably a pretty good analogy for graphics. Hard to
compare a small LCD and it's resolution to a console though. But, if "Mario
64 DS" were somehow to be displayed on a TV (with same detail as on the DS),
I'd have to say that "Mario 64 DS" would look much better than the N64's
"Mario 64".

As for calender note taking, unfortunetly the DS doesn't have the
functionality onboard. The onboard software doesn't have much of the
"standard" functionality that you would find on a PDA -- such as note
taking, calender tasks, etc. Calender and time simply just tell you the
date and time. (There is an alarm function though.) Hopefully, either
Nintendo or a third-party will come out with "organizer" software in the
future. It would be a natural fit for the DS. I'm also hoping someone
develops a web browser and email client for it.
