I can't get it to work on the GTX 580, but it did work with the HD 4870 just fine. I have tryed reinstalling the game and it still does not work. I could make a video and put it on youtube. I did not change any thing, but the video card. If in the end it does not work then I will play it on my laptop.
P.S Crysis gets beat up so bad at 1080p with this card that I needed vsnc. ( My 4870 would over heat and mess up maxed out at 1080p.)
I am happy with this card over all, but this is a small pain I did not think would happen. thanks all
Edit: I guess this is do to the drivers, but I am not sure. I don't think I can fix this so I will just have to play on my small 16in laptop 1080p lcd. I am a bit disapointed not working with my new card, but it's the only old game so far that does not work that did on my HD 4870. So it's not to bad. I think I will beat crysis again, but this time with no lag maxed out.
I think it's not all that far away from working, but still unplayble. I will try to use a 4:3 lcd to see if that will work later this week. Any help would be good. I said before It was the drivers, but I am starting to think it could be the card as well. (CUBA vs Steam GPUS)
well the game was also quite old. maybe nvidia driver team did not tweak the driver for such an old game for their newest card. if the game was famous maybe it will be a different story
But it worked on My HD 4870 just fine. It does load up like it should for the most part, but it's unplayble on my GTX 580. I may make a vid of it and put it on youtube. It feels like it just needs a small fix. It just seems like it should work. Toms just used this game in a AMD fusion VS intel ion.
[Fiftly] Download the mod called 'A2 Classic' found here: http://www.moddb.com/games/star-trek-armada-ii/download... and unpack the rar into the directory of Fleet Operations in the file that says mods.
---This is done by right clicking the desktop icon, click 'Open file location' or finding it in programs, now once open, double click the 'Data' file and the mod file will be contained inside. Unpack the zip file inside.
[Lastly] Launch Fleet Operations and go to options in main menu, you will see mods as an option, click and you can launch Star trek Armada 2.
This now allows you to play the original game on the Fleet Operations tweaked engine and is compatible with all newer operating systems. I rally hope this was helpful. thanks.
