I'm a first time builder as well and I want it to be future proof for a few years and I would like for starcraft two to run on ultra settings. Thank you

swap the hdd with Samsung spinpoint f3,
ram you have chosen is really high quality.

6850, you can go for a much better option like a 6870,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102913

case is fine too

if you have chosen i52500k, you must have known what is overclocking, it means to raise your cpu clock speed(like i5 2500k 3.3 ghz to 4.5 ghz) by changing some settings in bios.
also, it voids warrenty.
if you cant overclock, save some bucks and go either for i5 2400 or 2500 which are non k versions

I bought the Samsung HDD and also the
Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-750 750W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V v2.91 SLI Certified CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

The power supply was just at a great price and I may use it in the future for upgrades.

COOLER MASTER HAF 912 RC-912-KKN1 Black SECC/ ABS Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

SAPPHIRE 100314-2SR Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102913

Still getting the same ripjaw Ram, Intel 5 2400 and a regular LG dvd burner

two questions: Will the video card fit into the HAF 912? Which H67 MOBO should I get in particular?
I don't plan on overclocking, just casual use and of course playing starcraft 2 on ultra settings without putting too much stress on the computer.

Actually a H61 would be fine since you don't plan to SLI:

Not entirely sure if this is the best board but it looks fine to me.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131716
an Asus board at the same price, but without USB 3.0 or SATA III

The card will fit, it will fit a ATi 5970 if the top hard drive cage is removed.

You could get cheaper ram:

no heatspreader but with a HAF case you could probably get away with it.

Powersupply was a bit OTT for 1 Graphics card and no overclock, but if you're happy it's fine.

The HAF 912 only comes with 2 fans and has pretty bad air flow without buying a lot of fans. It's not a good buy.

Check out the Newegg Sale:
http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/latest/index-landing.aspx

It has a promo code for the PSU you wanted and the Antec 300 Illusion is a much better case for the price.
