Can my asrock extreme3 gen3 support xfx 6950 2gb ?

hello i bought an XFX amd radeon 6950 2gb video card for my new build and my mobo the asrock extreme3 gen3 supports PCI 3.0 and backwords compatible 2.0 but my video card has PCI 2.1 and it also says i need a x16 port aswell. just wondering does my motherboard suppot this ?

  1. Yes. You can even do Crossfire if you wanted.
  2. When you are using different PCI slots like that, it'll always work with the lowest one, so no worries. Any AM3+ board will have at least one x16 slot, so no worries about that either.
  3. i'm using a z68 motherboard with lga 1155 slot
  4. will it still work ?, i really don't want to send this card back.

    Yep, and the 3.0 slots are x8-x8 for dual GPU use, so it's even SLI compatible (even though that's not applicable here). You're good to go. :)

    You're fine. Stop worrying! :) 3.0 is TOTALLY backwards compatible, and regardless, unless you have an Ivy CPU, it's not 3.0 anyway.
