Eyefinity Vs Surround.

I'm seriously thinking about getting 2 more monitors for nVidia surround however does surround work in the same way as eyefinity in the sense that the centre screen is like a normal screen and the left and right are for your peripheral vision?

Also what cables would I need to set this up right?
