First Build - Seeking Compatibility and Budget Advice

Forum Systems : New Build First Build - Seeking Compatibility and Budget Advice

Hey everyone first timer here. I've been doing a good amount of research over the past few weeks and am getting prepared to do my first build. Since my current system can no longer run current games even at the lowest settings this PC will be designed to give the best gaming and overall performance possible while staying as close to $1500 as possible. I am willing to go over that price for good performance gains. I intend to overclock the processor and hope to achieve 4.6-4.7Ghz.

My main concerns at the moment are compatibility of components, ease of the build, and anywhere were I might be able to save money while essentially maintaining the performance level of my posted build. Some of the parts I view as investments, such as the Blueray burner and larger SSD. So despite their increased cost I'd rather leave them as is.

TLDR

Approximate Purchase Date: July 8th, 2011
Budget Range: $1500-$1700
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Everything else
Parts Not Required: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg
Country of Origin: USA
Parts Preferences: ASUS Mobo (For easy overclocking), Everything else idc
Overclocking: Yes
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe down the road
Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200
Additional Comments: Nothing

Any and all advice is much appreciated.

go with the noctua nh-d14 instead of the hyper 212+. it is much better

Yea I had my eye on that one as well because of all the good reviews. It was out of stock the other day when I was looking over after market coolers.

Thanks for the tip.
