Hard Drive question

I used a brand new 500gb hard drive with a new computer and installed windows xp on it. I wasn't paying attention and it formatted the 500gb hard drive only to 127gb. I am now running it under windows 7 as a secondary hard drive for backup but I want the full capacity, what do I have to do to reformat the drive so that it recognizes the whole 500gb?

use drive manage to extend the partition if the rest of the drive was never formatted.
