Hard Drive question

I used a brand new 500gb hard drive with a new computer and installed windows xp on it. I wasn't paying attention and it formatted the 500gb hard drive only to 127gb. I am now running it under windows 7 as a secondary hard drive for backup but I want the full capacity, what do I have to do to reformat the drive so that it recognizes the whole 500gb?

Delete the partition and repartition it and format it using disk manager.

use drive manage to extend the partition if the rest of the drive was never formatted.

This completely answered my question! thank you so much, and I learned something new. I always thought you had to wipe it out and reformat, that was far less painful than I imagined!
