I have a desk top dell inspiron530 running xp would like to upgrade the video card for running autocad inventor software what is compatable for my system

pretty much any pcie card... go for an nvidia quadro if you can afford it.

im sure you could run 2.0 cards as well, but i didnt notice anything about it being a 2.0 slot in the dell documentation i found on their site.
