What are the benefits of simultaneous dual band wireless access points such as http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/linksys/E30... I assume, but not sure, what some of the reasons Include:

1. The 5 GHz band helpful in environments where there's an existing 2.4 network possible on same channel(s) and/or you are near a microwave.

2. Two bands allows for full bandwidth on each band, sorry of acting like a network switch, where you get the full speed on each port, vs. a hub where the bandwidth is shared amongst the entire device.

Anything else?
thx

You're exactly right. That's pretty much it. I have that same exact router. It's absolutely fantastic with dd-wrt. Go for it!
