i went from a phenom 9850 to phenom 2 955 and i noticed programs take longer to open up and close down i checked my bios version and its 0803 which is higher than all the listings for the 955 from http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/A [...] 785M/#CPUS

Go into device manager. Locate the processor and "uninstall" it. Reboot the system. On reboot, Windows will install and configure the cpu driver properly.

Also, update your bios to the latest, which is 1006
