I am going to build my next gaming computer. Primary purpose of computer is to game with a little movie watching and surfing the net. Last computer I built was a 486 back in the 90’s. I have picked the AMD Phenom II as my processor. Below is the FYI to help guide me on a mother board.

Time Frame - 1-2 Months

Location - USA

Total Price range $1300-$1600 for pc only. Not including shipping or rebates

Have not looked into over clocking, but might be an option.

AMD Phenom II 970, 975 or 980. Have not decided on what one.

Ram
16 GB of ram

Video Card
Radeon HD 6970 2GB one card. I will only be using 1 27” Monitor. I might hook up a 21” later. I have no plans to upgrade to 2 video cards. $350ish-$400 depending on manufacture.

Case still researching.

Will upgrade sound card later. Or if suggested worth doing now will added in budget.

Deciding on upgrading network card or not. Is this worth doing? Router will have Wii and total of 2 comps hooked up. No wireless involved.

I Might get a TV turner. So number of PCI slots could determine motherboard.

Hard drive will be 1-2 tb. Been looking at doing the 2 1t hard drives. does this healp that much on a gaming system.

Optical Drive a blue ray burner

Here are the mother boards I have seen and liked. Any suggested on which one would be better or another motherboard instead would be great.
