I just installed XP and I don't have access to my second harddrive. It has been recognized but I can't open it...
does anyone know how I get access to it..????
Also I'm loged on as myself with Administrator privlages. And I was running W2K with both HD's in NTFS mode.
Do I need to log on as Administrator??...how would I do that?
thanks in Advanced.... please help

Is the second hard drive formatted? Have you tried running CHKDSK on the drive?

Logging on as an Administrator:

There are two ways to do this: First, you can use the "old" login screen, instead of the Welcome screen, as Administrator doesn't appear on the Welcome screen by default. To enable this, open User Accounts, choose Change the way users log on or off, and then uncheck "Use the Welcome" screen. Or, use the TweakUI for Windows XP Power Toy to add Administrator to the Welcome screen.

You might find this page to be helpful:

You can also get to the Win2K-style logon to appear by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice at the Welcome screen; this will allow you to logon as Administrator.

Here's a "funny" question. How did you know that you were running with Administrator privileges if you didn't know how to logon as an Administrator in the first place? ???

Oh, and by-the-way, NTFS is a file system, not a "mode".

Thanks guys.. I finaly figured it out... In folder options I un-checked "use simple file sharing" then all hard drives get more options in properties like...sharing and security... then I just added admin and myself to the sharing properties, this did it..now I have full access to my second HD...
And how did I know I have Admin priviladges, because in local users and groups I belong to the Admin group..
