Need a $500-$600 intel based computer

So I've been trying really hard to get my parents to upgrade from the shoe-box they call a computer. My dad said he might reason spending $500-$600 for a pretty decent computer with an Intel i5 cpu. I was wondering what good systems are out there that we can buy/build ourselves. The cherry on top for me would be a nice graphics card for casual gaming.
