Hey guys

First-off, my setup:
MSI X58A-GD65 mainboard
Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.07Ghz CPU
Club3D Hd 6870 1GB GDDR 5 graphic card
8GB 2000Mhz Kingston Hyper-X RAM
320GB 7200RPM Western Digital HDD (slowest part of system)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
...I don't think the rest matters.

Now, the problem:
Yesterday, as I opened Internet Explorer 8 on my perfectly-working, entirely stable installation of Windows, it presented me with the option to upgrade to Internet Explorer 9. I opted to do so. Once finished, it required a reboot. So I let it restart my PC.
It couldn't boot. Right after it said "Starting Windows", it switched to a black screen with "Loading Files" or someting similar, and it tried to repair my startup. It failed in doing so about 9 times, with and without the Windows disc (which is utterly useless). I tried System Recovery on various points, no luck. Anyhoo, I ended up doing a reinstall of Windows.
Now, I notice that my graphic card is no longer picking up as being 1GB, but instead as 747MB in DxDiag. Any ideas? Please??

Do you mean this on the Display tab:

Approx. Total Memory:

It shows 3825 MB on my system (i7-950 with XFX HD 6870 1GB). I have no idea what that means. :pt1cable:

Yes, I've checked GPU-Z and according to it, I've got 1024MB..so thankfully, that's good. Now I'm just wondering what's up with my DirectX..

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, that Display tab thing.
Hmmm..yeah, apparently, DxDiag totally screws up numbers in Vista and 7. Or, as far as I've heard, anyway.

Thanks for the post! :)

if i'm not mistaken the number showed is related to texture memory.
