New Gaming Rig

Hello all, I am new to the community. I currently have an Asus G73 for my gaming needs. It just hit me, that this is nowhere near the performance I need, especially for the price I have paid for this guy. I am planning on selling the G73, and switching over to a performance desktop setup. Now, I have done some research and picked the parts that I figure would work out for me within my budget. I am very new to PC building, so any suggestions and alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Case- Antec Nine Hundred Black Computer Case With Side Panel Window Mid-Tower (Need enough space for support tower size / $99)

HDD- Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s ($59.99)

GPU- EVGA GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 w/ SLI Support ($335.99)

PSU- CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ($119.99)

RAM- Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory ($74.99)

CPU- Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155 95W ($219.99)

CPU Cooler- CORSAIR Hydro Series H60 Liquid Cooler ($69.98)

CD Drive- Samsung CD/DVD SATA ($19.99)

Motherboard- MSI P67A-G43 (B3) USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard ($124.99)

Monitor- Acer 23'' LED 5ms ($159.99)

Grand Total ($1,286)

This is what I came up with in my shopping cart via Newegg. What do you guys think?

  1. Get the 902 or get the HAF 922/912.

Get the Samsung F3 1TB instead. It'll perform the same and probably have better reliability. Cheaper on Amazon

Do you plan to SLI? The 750w I think wouldn't be enough for 570 SLI.
I also suggest getting the 560 Ti instead It'll perform cooler, and cheaper. Plus this one will perform the same with the stock OC. 560 Ti OC = 570

You don't need the H60, The Mugen 2 would do the same job. Even the Noctua U-12P (I believe is the name) would do a similar job.

Combo up for a cheaper board+CPU
  2. So, I am actually already running on my new system. I changed up a few things. I decided to keep the video card as a GTX 570 for personal reasons that I would never even figure out. I did switch the HDD to the Samsung F3. I also added an Intel 320 120GB SSD as a boot drive and daily use software. I stuck with the H60, and am happy with it. I switched my mobo over to the Asus P8P67. As for the case, I went with the Antec 902 v3.

I don't regret my decision, and am very happy with my current setup. The only thing I have done so far is OC my 2500k to 4.8Ghz and Prime95'd it for around 3 1/2 hours stable. I am also going to OC my 570 to SC speeds.

    Thanks aznshinobi for the suggestions.
