More about upgrade hd3870 advice please
  1. Excellent. The "Best Graphics Card for the Money: April 2011" article just went up. Enjoy.

  2. Your processor is going to limit what you buy to right around $150 anyways, which is great.

    What you might consider is getting an HD6790 and then crossfiring later. Check to see if your motherboard's BIOS can be updated to support Phenom II processors. If so, an HD6790 crossfire is a great solution.
  3. This is what you want for $150 or under right now.
    Great deal but that said shadow is right about the processor limiting cards in that price area. Your resolution is also pretty low so that card is kind of overkill.
    You may just want to save some money and get something cheaper and more appropriate for your current CPU/monitor. This GTS 250 is also a good deal and probably your best choice for your current setup;
    It is about 50% faster on average than your HD3870 at 1280x1024.
  4. thanks very much, I appreciate the help!!
