Amd phenom x4 compar presario

Hello,i have a presario CQ5600Y currently with a AMD athlon II 170u 2.0Ghz, my question is, whats the most powerfull processor chip i can safely run in my setup, all stock 2gb ram. mainly for video processing,coding and converting.

I am going to assume that Compaq doesn't put out BIOS updates to support CPU's that were not installed at the time of manufacturing. So, although the MB might be able to support a new CPU, it is doubtful that it would actually run.

Theoretically most x2 -x4 Athlon II's should work, as well as most of the Phenom i/ii chips up through the x4's.

But the MB will probably will not work with them. If you want to upgrade your CPU, you should consider upgrading the MB as well.
