I was wondering how much video ram I would need to run things at 1920x1080. I would like to get a TV and game on it but I have a 5770 with 512 MB ram right now.

Would that cut it?
To my understanding the core determines the type of graphics you can handle the memory determines the bandwidth to the screen.

a 768mb gtx460 handles it quite well atm. but I would go with a 1gb card as future games will have higher res textures and such that need more memory. You have to remember, the amount of memory is only 1 factor, speed of processing is mch more critical at that res. a 5770 will be running many games ok at that res, while other games it will run with reduced detail settings to get good fps. Most people reccommend at least a 6850 or better for 1920x1080 for good performance.
