Laptop compatibility

How do I know if a laptop I buy here in Canada will be compatible with the voltage we use in South Africa?

The two country operates different voltage and to some extent, the frequence as well. But a lot of the power adapters are universal, with input range of 100-240v and 50/60 Hz. So check the power adapter. If the power adapter works, then just get a physical pin adapter for the plug to plug in the powerpoint.
